In 1952, the D'Arcy Exploration Company, upon receipt of a concession from King Leopold, dispatched a survey team to the Belgian Congo to determine the suitability of land for drilling operations. The survey team there encountered the Pata tribe, a civilization heretofore unexposed to outsiders.

Neither the survey team nor the Pata were ever heard from again.
